Anne-Marie Halligan

Anne-Marie Halligan

Anne-Marie came to massage after a long career as a Registered Nurse, working around Australia and the UK. Her last nursing job saw her working as a Clinical Research Nurse in the area of Oncology and her experiences with patients during this time led to an interest in complementary care for patients going through the rigours of cancer treatment. This evolved into training as a Remedial Massage Therapist in 2010 with the goal of making massage available in hospitals. She found Oncology Massage and after completing all four modules of their training, she became a Facilitator for the organisation, travelling around Australia and to New Zealand to teach this modality to massage therapists. While Anne-Marie herself doesn’t work in a hospital yet (a work in progress!), there are Oncology massage therapists in South Australia and around Australia who are currently employed in the medical environment.

Oncology Massage is something for which Anne-Marie has a great passion, both in her clinic and in the classroom. It is about adapting massage therapy for the client who has had cancer or is currently being treated for cancer, providing them with safe and effective treatment. But for Anne-Marie, it is particularly about connecting with another human being, through the power of touch, at a time in their life when it really matters.
She is currently a Board Member at the Unley Cancer Care Centre. Her passion and intention is to offer her cancer clients “help, hope and understanding”.

Anne-Marie is delighted to be coming on board at the Movement and Wellness Centre and looks forward to helping you address your needs, whether you are a cancer client or just in need of a moment to unwind and switch off from the busy world we live in.
